Drain Water Heat Recovery

15% Less water-heating energy use

This system captures heat from warm drain water generated by showers, sinks, laundry, and appliances before it leaves the building.

Diagram shows winter sun entering house for heat while summer sun is blocked by the roof for shade.
Why It Matters01

A passive heat exchanger with no moving parts.

A coiled copper heat exchanger wraps around the main drain pipe. Cooler incoming water passes through the copper coil and absorbs heat from outgoing wastewater through the conductive properties of copper.

No fans, no pumps, no controls. The recovered heat reduces the load on the water heater by up to 15% on every shower, every wash, every day.
