Integrated Solar Panel System

BIPV Building-integrated photovoltaics

The south-facing roof uses building-integrated solar panels. Unlike traditional rooftop solar mounted above the roofing material, this system becomes part of the roof assembly itself.

Diagram shows winter sun entering house for heat while summer sun is blocked by the roof for shade.
Why It Matters01

Generation and weatherproofing in one layer.

Because the solar panels replace a large portion of conventional roofing material, the building reduces both material usage and embodied carbon while generating renewable electricity.

The array is sized to generate more energy annually than the home consumes. Pushing surplus to the grid as a credit against winter draw.
